Fran Matkin
Certified TM Teacher
Fran Matkin was a high school teacher in Vernon, BC, when her parents telephoned saying, “Come to Victoria. We have found the truth that we have been seeking all our lives.” What they had learned was a simple technique, as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, called Transcendental Meditation. Fran subsequently learned TM in 1961. Fran has a BSc in Home Economics, a BC teacher’s certificate, and a Master's degree and taught in BC high schools for six years before moving with her husband and children to Fairfield, Iowan. There she taught kindergarten and pre-kindergarten for seventeen years at the award-winning Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment. In 2012 Fran fulfilled her 50-year dream of becoming a teacher of Transcendental Meditation and was hired to teach TM at the Victoria School for Ideal Education in Victoria. Fran says that she has now come full circle—the Transcendental Meditation technique that inspired her parents so many years ago, she now teaches.
